South African president and SADC chairperson Kgalema Motlanthe on Wednesday unequivocally condemned the attempted assassination of Lesotho Prime Minister Pakalitha Mosisili at his home in Maseru earlier in the day.
Motlanthe, on behalf of SADC and in his own name said: "The SADC condemns without equivocation the attempted assassination of the democratically elected prime minister of Lesotho, Pakalitha Mosisili. It is the firm view of the region that no cause can ever justify such heinous acts."
In the same breath, Motlanthe reiterated: "The SADC condemns any attempt at unconstitutional transfer of power. Such acts have no place in our region."
